Every review names the same person

Rachael. Forty reviews, and hers is the name in all of them, spelled two different ways by two different customers. The number on this page is a mobile, so when you ring it you are talking to the salon rather than a booking line.

She has run Scruffy’s Groom Room as her own salon in Stapleford since January 2025. In that time the Google profile has collected 40 reviews and not one of them is below five stars.

Read a few and you notice what they have in common. They are not about the price and they are barely about the haircut. They are about being asked what you wanted first, being told what was going to happen, and getting a dog back that was calm.

What that means when you turn up

She asks before she cuts

Reviewers keep describing the same conversation: what length, why that length, and what would suit the coat better. It happens before the appointment starts, not after it has gone wrong.

She talks the dog through it

One owner listened through the door and wrote that her puppy was talked through each step and shown each of the tools. Another wrote that hers was given “plenty of reassurance and positive vibes”. Those were Rachael’s own words back to her.

She answers every review

Every single one, by name, remembering the dog. It is a small thing and it is the tell: somebody who does that is not treating your dog as the next one in.

Our puppy, Mabel had her first puppy groom here today. Rachael was so good with her. She explained to me what she would be doing, and by the sounds of it, talked Mabel through each step and showed her each of the tools so she was used to …

I brought my dog in for grooming, and I was honestly a bit nervous because she tends to get very anxious in new environments. From the moment we walked in, the groomer was incredibly kind and reassuring—both to me and my pup! She took the …
